For more than 20 years, LAMA Sewing Kits have helped children tap their inner creative spirit with simple and easy-to-use projects that are not only fun, but functional and fashionable, too.
Founded in 1984 by educator and designer Lee Ann Asher, LAMA's mission was to provide high-quality sewing and craft kits to school-age kids whose imaginative and inventive flair was under-served by traditional, out-dated ideas and products. Evidently her inspiration was sound, as LAMA Sewing Kits quickly became a hit with teachers and children of all ages. Today, LAMA's loyal customers include public and private schools in all 50 states and abroad, too.
LAMA's success is based on Lee Ann's personal belief and philosophy that all children have a desire and need to be creative. “In this age of computers, iPods, and video games,” says Lee Ann, “it's more important than ever to provide a challenging, creative outlet for kids. Nothing better fosters self-esteem and a sense of pride than a true sense of accomplishment. And what better way to achieve that than by crafting something of value with their own two hands and their sense of imagination.”
We hope you'll take a few minutes and check out our entertaining array of projects. And while they've been a big hit in school settings, many of our customers are parents and grandparents who simply enjoy spending time with their kids, collaborating on an artistic endeavor and, perhaps, getting in touch with their inner creative spirit, too. Enjoy!
LAMA Fun Fact: While we've adopted the Llama as our official company mascot, the company name actually was a combination of the first name initials of our company founder, Lee Ann, and her original partner, Mary Ann.
